One-a-chip, Two-a-chip, Three-a-chip, Four, How Do We Choose
the Chips We Love More? Yes, that completes
the song for the day. Thankfully for
everyone around me, I’m done with that. When
you go to the grocery store, how do you pick out your favorite bag of
chips? Do you have a favorite brand, or
does the packaging play a factor? Or do
you have no preference and buy whatever is on sale that week? For most, we can probably admit, that one
specific brand is our favorite. For me,
it lies in the F-L-A-V-O-R. If I’m
craving cheese, I run for the Doritos, but if I have an all-out BBQ craving,
then I put my faith in Lays. Why? Is it the flavor? I couldn’t really explain the why because
I’ve bought off-brands in the past and felt some of them taste the exact
same. Maybe the true reason lies in
packaging?
Packaging and what it tells a customer is extremely
important. It tells the potential
shopper the who, the what and the why.
Why should I buy this product over the one sitting next to it? What is this product and who is the
maker? These three questions should be
answered within the simple design and overall look of the package? When looking into the design, here
are a few things to go over.
- Know Your Target Audience
- Look at the actual Product and let it design the packaging
- Think about the Material Used
- Be Practical – The world has changed and in the design we've turned to a more simple approach. It's very effective to getting the point across.
