Eat Healthy, Be More Productive

By Molly Grane - Marketing Support at Xapsis Integrated Marketing

Can’t shake that tired feeling or low productivity during work?  Could it be because of the food you just consumed?  January is a time of new beginnings, new bodies, and new goals.  One of the most common goals includes weight loss.  Most people lose weight for their self-esteem, but did you know there are other reasons besides what looks back at you in the mirror?

How about your performance at work, or your overall feeling inside and out?  Is that enough of a reason for you to pick up healthier choice foods or reason enough for hitting the gym?  Coming from a company standpoint, here is some shocking research found from the Health Enhancement Research Organization, Brigham Young University, and the Center for Health Research at Healthways; “Workers who ate healthful meals and exercised on a regular basis had a better job performance and lower absenteeism.  Also, employees who eat healthy all day long were 25% more likely to have higher job performance.  Along with this, while those who eat five or more servings of fruit and vegetables, at least four times a week, were 20% more likely to be more productive.”

Shocking facts!!! These numbers put me back in my chair.  But why are companies not implementing more wellness programs, incentives for their workers to feel and BE healthy?  Here at Xapsis, we are joining in on the health revolution and doing a month of our own weight loss challenge.  It’s exciting to see the different foods everyone is bringing in each day and hearing about what each person is doing to complete their goal.  If you would like to join us in this weight loss challenge, visit our Facebook page for helpful hints and tips during the months of January and February.
